Lockwood Racing's Fabian Coulthard has locked in a comfortable top 10 starting spot for the first of four races at the Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
After qualifying outside the top 10 for each of the Clipsal 500 races in Adelaide a fortnight ago, Coulthard was keen to reclaim his 'qualifying mojo' around the Albert Park lake.
This he duly managed to achieve with a strong top 10 result in the Lockwood Racing VF Commodore.
After proving the car has strong race pace in Adelaide, leaving the weekend second in the championship, the expectation is for a great result in the first two races tomorrow.
"7th is pretty good. There are four individual races across the weekend and they all count, so we have to be on it right from the start tomorrow. The races will all be about how you manage the soft tyres. They go off quickly so you can't abuse them, we've all driven on the soft tyres before though so we know what to do. They're only short races but they are very long laps so it's definitely going to be interesting. We'll be right I reckon."
Nissan's Michael Caruso won pole for the first race tomorrow from Shane Van Gisbergen and Volvo's Scott McLaughlin.
There are two V8 Supercar support races tomorrow, a 10 lap race at 11:05 and a 12 lap race at 2:25.
The Lockwood Racing twitter page (@lockwoodracing) will provide live updates of the races across the weekend.
