Fifth and third in yesterday's two Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix V8 Supercar support races, Lockwood Racing's Fabian Coulthard went one better in today's 12 lap race with a fighting second place.
From third on the grid, Coulthard capitalised on a mistake early on by Red Bull Racing's Craig Lowndes, gifting the hard charging Kiwi second place.
Shadowing eventual winner Shane Van Gisbergen for most of the race, Coulthard finished a comfortable second as rain starting to fall on the Albert Park circuit.
The result sets up a tantalising final race with Coulthard starting second on the grid and added points on offer.
It was good! I could see Shane in front of me and a Red Bull car behind me so I just had to manage what I was doing. We took it a bit conservative at the end when the rain started to fall. The raindrops on the window looked quite big so I just wanted to get it to the finish.
The final Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix V8 Supercar support race takes place tomorrow over 12 laps at 1.20pm with points added from all four races leading to a round winner.
