It was a cruel end to Tim & Freightliner Racing’s 250km campaign at Phillip Island today. Tim did a brilliant job to avoid the lap one drama which saw cars going off left, right and centre. He kept it clean and with his fast pace was moving forward through the pack. With just over 10 laps to go he was looking good for a podium finish, in those final laps Will Davison went to make a passing move which sent Tim off track. Davison copped a pit lane penalty but the damage forced Tim down the order and through pit lane for a new tyre. Tim finished in P18. There is no doubt Freightliner Racing is eager for a top result, so we’ll be ready to tackle another 250kms tomorrow!
“It was disappointing for it to end the way it did, especially at the end of the race. I wasn’t unhappy with qualifying as I felt we made improvements in the car from yesterday. We stayed out of trouble in the race and I feel like we had good pace there in our stints, it was a crazy race with some of the drama and pit lane penalties.”
“We had fresher rubber at the end as we stopped later than some of the others, we were making up some good ground there. Will just drove over my rear wheel there, the move wasn’t on so it was disappointing as it ended both of our races. I’m just upset for the team after all they’re done with all the BJR cars over the last couple of weeks. A podium would have been a nice reward for the team.”
