THE WORD FROM TIM

A pit exit / re-join gone wrong gone wrong put a harsh end to Tim’s race today. Rick Kelly and Mark Winterbottom were battling for position and Tim was set to join the order behind them. Their battle saw both of them slow in the last few corners and as they slowed into turn one, Tim found himself in the mix. With cold tyres and being on the dirty side of the track, Tim braked to avoid them, but it resulted in a lock up and contact with Kelly. With them both going off track Tim was given a drive through penalty for the incident. A tough end to the day for Freightliner Racing but the team will be back and ready to fight for 200km tomorrow. There is plenty of potential, so bring on the new race day!

TIM “I don’t think I could have done anything different today. I tried to avoid Kelly and Winterbottom going into turn one but the brakes locked and I didn’t have much option in the incident. I should have come out just behind them, but their battle slowed them both up a bit. If we had of re-joined just after them like we thought, it could have been a great result for the team and potentially have us in the mix with Percat and the other Freightliner Racing Commodore. We’ll regroup for tomorrow and fingers crossed it’s a better day for all of us.”
