THE WORD FROM TIM

The first 250km battle of Newcastle did not disappoint race fans today. It offered its fair share of door-to-door battles and nail-biting moments, all in front of a super-scenic backdrop. For Tim Slade and the Freightliner Racing crew, the qualifying result left a little to be desired however the result saw them on the first ever Newcastle Supercars podium! Tim went from 15th to 3rd thanks to a fast car, great stops and an even better strategy today. The Freightliner team are eager to do it all again tomorrow to finish the 2017 season on a high.

TIM

“The Freightliner boys did a great job today, I was happy with the car and they went with the right strategy. It worked in our favour today and I was able to make up a bit of time when we were out front; which led us to be able to battle there at the end of the race.”

“I thought we would have come out a little further ahead after our last stop, and with the group of cars battling for those top 8 or so positions, I knew it was going to be pretty entertaining and some good battle viewing.”

“The restart was wild, it was unfortunate what happened to Simona as she was battling for her best finish yet, it was like she went to go one way, then another and it caught her out. After that the Giz and Reynolds made contact so we made up some ground through others’ mistakes. The last few laps were pretty wild.”
