THE WORD FROM TIM
Albert Park turned on the sunshine for the final two qualifying sessions and first 130km race for Freightliner Racing today. Tim cracked into the top ten in one of the qualifying sessions, claiming a 5th and 13th starting position for the final two races at the Melbourne 400.
Tim started and finished today’s race in 11th, scoring the quickest lap of the day. There were exciting battle packs to watch throughout the race, with Tim being in a couple of them. Tim and team-mate Nick Percat overtook Mark Winterbottom in a nail-biting move – one passing on either side at the same time - in the latter laps. It became a tyre game at the end of the race, with the high degradation circuit favouring those who stopped that little bit later than others.
Tomorrow Tim will start the first 70km race out of 11th, then the 130km race out of 5th. With rain on the forecast it should make for an interesting day of racing!
