THE RECAP & WORD FROM BRAD

Tim’s top ten streak ended today, the Freightliner Racing Commodore suffered with a transaxle issue in the second qualifying session, which saw Tim qualify down the order in 16th. The team worked quickly to replace the gearbox and had him ready to go for todays 200km race. Tim was amongst some of the entertaining battle packs today and managed to pick up a couple of spots along the way to finish in 14th.

Despite finishing just outside the top ten today, Tim retains 10th overall in the Supercars Championship points standings. The Freightliner Racing team will have a quick turnaround again before heading to Phillip Island in less than two weeks for a milestone event – for brothers Brad and Kim Jones, this round marks their 250th Supercar round start. An achievement 18 years in the making!

BRAD

“We struggled a little bit this weekend with the Freightliner Racing Commodore. Tim sat inside the top ten most of the weekend and he was eager to move further forward in the races. We had a reasonable day yesterday but today we had a transaxle issue during qualifying which hurt our run in the second qualifying session, so we had to change that quickly before the race today.”

“During the race we had a mix up with tyres on Tim’s second stop which was unfortunate, we made a very quick call to scramble and get him to do his second stop earlier than most others, so to move forward a couple of spots and finish where we did was a good effort. It was a tyre race there at the end and as usual Tim held his own. He is really good at looking after the Dunlop tyres.”

“We need to go home and regroup a bit from here and make sure that when we get to Phillip Island in two weeks’ time that we’re rolling out with a bit more than we did this weekend. Which I’m confident that we can.”
