The Freightliner Racing Supercar was strong today, and was the top Holden in qualifying, with Tim qualifying in 5th. After passing a couple of cars early on in the race, Tim spent the majority of the opening Perth SuperSprint race in a podium getting position. Winterbottom and Van Gisbergen opted for a late pit stop, and made a charge in the final stint making up quite a number of positions to fill the podium behind Scott McLaughlin. Van Gisbergen only managed to get past Slade on the very final lap of the race. The 4th place finish is Tim’s best result at the Barbagallo circuit.

Tim “I knew our Freightliner Racing Supercar was strong early on in the race. We tried to save our tyres a little bit there at the start of the race and the few guys in front came back to us after a little while. The last stint was tough as we’d pitted when most others did, so I had to do a longer run on tyres at the end.”

“It was disappointing as we’d saved a set of greens in qualifying this morning and I thought bolting them on would have been enough to hold us there in a good position at the end. It was like driving in the wet there at the end of the race, I wasn’t even on full throttle between turn 1 and turn 4.”

“Motorsport can be a little cruel sometimes as we would have loved to come away with a trophy for the team and were so close to doing so. Overall the Freightliner Racing Commodore has been strong today and fingers crossed it is the same for tomorrow.”
