Freightliner Racing’s home circuit of Winton provided cool conditions for the 13th race of the Virgin Australia Supercar Championship.

The times were tight during qualifying yet again, as 5 tenths were all that separated the top twenty. Tim was putting out some flying laps and saw himself qualify on the 3rd row of the starting grid in 6th position, and a great start Tim move up another position to 5th.

The one and only safety car was seen on lap 31 of 40, bunching the field up. With some of the drivers opting for late pit stops, a couple of cars that had fresher tyres moved forward that little bit more in the final laps. Tim did a fantastic job today to bring the Freightliner Racing Commodore home in 7th.

“It would have been nice to finish in the top 5 today, as I got a good start and was running around in 5th for most of the race. We probably lost those couple of spots by opting for the early stop strategy. I was defending as hard as I could there at the end from the guys that did the later stops that were on the better tyres, but a couple managed to work their way through.”

“I was happy with today’s qualifying efforts and I’m hoping we can qualify in a similar or better spot tomorrow and find that little bit of extra pace we need for the race.”

“It’s clear we still don’t have the ultimate pace, we definitely have a car that’s capable of running in the top 5, but I don’t think we would have been able to push further than that today.”

“Today was decent and I’m overall happy to be in the ten, but of course I hope we can go that little bit better tomorrow.”
