Sunday 26th August

10:50 – 11:10 – Qualifying

13:40 – 15:05 – Race 23 – 200kms / 41 Laps

Tim’s top ten streak continued in practice and qualifying this morning, however the opening race at the inaugural Bend SuperSprint event was set to shake up the order. The opening laps were exciting to watch as drivers were all vying for track position and battling the other drivers door-to-door for the first time. Tim was caught out at the back of a couple of battle packs, putting him down the order, but eventually found his groove to finish in 12th. 200kms to go tomorrow!

“After being at the pointy end in the practice sessions today and yesterday, we were hoping to build on that momentum heading into today’s qualifying session and race. The qualifying session was tricky, there was a lot of dust on the road as a few cars in the previous sessions had gone off at various areas, so that clean surface we had this morning was no longer there. You can see by the times that there was a fair difference. What I achieved in practice (1:50.1738), was only 0.04 off the final pole position time (1:50.1371s)!”

“During the race I managed to complete my pit stop just before the one and only safety car was deployed. That was a small win as it means Nick and/or I avoided a double stack in the pits. There seemed to be a bit of passing today, plenty of mistakes as people are trying to get a handle on the new circuit. From the sessions today we’ll have plenty of data to go through and see how we can tackle it again tomorrow for 200kms.”
