THE RECAP & WORD FROM TIM
Tim Slade narrowly missed the Tailem Bend podium today, finishing 4th after a strong showing at the inaugural Bend SuperSprint event. The Freightliner Racing Commodore was strong all day, and a superb drive from Tim saw him be the best of the South Aussies today.
He and team-mate Nick Percat finished 4th and 5th respectively, which now boosts the duo to 3rd in the team’s championship behind Red Bull Racing Holden Team and Dick Johnson Racing Team Penske.
The team will have their final test day in early September before heading to Melbourne for the Sandown 500, which marks the first event of the Pirtek Endurance Cup!
“It’s been such a fine line between getting a good lap here at The Bend Motorsport Park, and not. We’ve been fine tuning the car all weekend to get it in the window we need. It was great to qualify on the second row, we’d been in and around that position during the Friday practice sessions, a little off yesterday, but great to be back up there today.”
“There hasn’t been a lot of tyre degradation here, and as the fuel wears off we are going faster, as you can see most of the fastest laps were set at the end of the races!”
“It was a good, fun race, and a great result for us to have two cars in the top five. I made a mistake in the final laps trying to save fuel, so we didn’t push as hard as we could at the end, but overall its been a strong weekend for Freightliner Racing.“
