Tim Slade was strong in the Coregas NZ Supercar today, sitting inside the top ten for both the practice and qualifying sessions and ultimately qualified in 7th place; alongside Coregas NZ team-mate Nick Percat who qualified in 6th. A mere 0.0003 separating the pair on today’s starting grid!

Today’s race marked a milestone for Tim Slade – his 300th Supercars Championship race start. Unfortunately, the race finish was far from the desired result that the team wanted for Tim today. With the one and only safety car coming out on lap 8, when Fabian Coulthard was sent hard into a wall, ending his race, the Supercar drivers made a dash for pit lane to get their first pit stops out of the way. Tim had to stack in pit lane, along with several others, which lost him valuable time and saw him drop down the order. From here the recovery was tough, with Tim making his way from just outside the top 20, to finish in 17th position.

Knowing the Coregas NZ Supercar is fast, we’re looking to show our speed again tomorrow and turn it into the result we know Tim and the team can achieve. Tomorrow we qualify at 11:05am (NZDT) and have the addition of the top ten shootout, then one final 200km race to finish our New Zealand Supercar adventure.
