THE RECAP

Only 0.8 of a second covered the Supercars in todays qualifying session at Newcastle. Tim found himself in the middle of the order, qualifying in 14th position.

Freightliner Racing got underway with their race strategy early, pitting Tim on lap one of the race. On lap 23 Tim had contact with DePasquale, which pushed him into a tyre wall and damaged the exhaust, causing a blockage. With an instant loss in power, Tim pitted for repairs. When he rejoined the team advised him that he was a lap down and they would need a safety car to get back in the game.

On lap 40 chaos ensued after Fabian Coulthard hit the tyre wall at turn one, bringing out the safety car. Just as the team thought they could get back in the hunt; on the restart Tim involved in another incident with DePasquale who got turned in front of him. As Tim was crossing the start/finish line on the next lap, the damage was evident, the front bar was doing damage to the front tyre and forced him to pit yet again for repairs. Tim finished just under two laps down in 18th position. A tough end to the first race here in Newcastle.
