TRACK TIMES

PRACTICE ONE (ADDITIONAL DRIVERS ONLY)

TIME: 10:40-11:10

CONDITIONS: Rain, wet, wind

FINISHED: Position 17th – 1m08.6383

FASTEST: Garth Tander – 1m08.0361

RECAP: Ash Walsh was up first to begin the Sandown 500 having the Freightliner Racing Supercar all to himself for the 30-minute session. Difficult, wet and windy, weather conditions made it tricky to get a decent lap - giving no direction of which way to go with set-up.

PRACTICE TWO (ALL DRIVERS)

TIME: 12:45-13:15

CONDITIONS: Dry, overcast

FINISHED: Position 13th – 1m08.3000

FASTEST: David Reynolds – 1m07.7779

RECAP: Tim Slade was in for his only session of the day and Melbourne weather continued to keep us on our toes. At first it looked like a rainy session was imminent but thankfully it stayed away. The track was still difficult, however, with half of the circuit dry and half wet! Tim had an off-road trip through turn 2 and 3 before entering back on track. Not willing to push it with tricky track conditions, Tim finished in P13.

PRACTICE THREE (ADDITIONAL DRIVERS ONLY)

TIME: 15:20-15:50

CONDITIONS: Dry, overcast

FINISHED: Position 6th – 1m08.0287

FASTEST: Craig Lowndes – 1m07.8356

RECAP: Great to have some on track dry action to finish off the day. Ash was back in the car and made positive progress. Getting back on track with their program which was suited to the dry weather. Ash ended the day on a positive note with a p6 and a step in the right direction. Let’s hope the weather stays clear tomorrow so the team keep moving forward.

THE WORD FROM TIM

“We had a pretty decent day today. It was difficult at the start with the weather but I mean it was difficult for everyone out on track.

It was good to have a dry session as our program was a continuation from the Gold Coast and based on a dry set-up. The last two sessions were dry which really suited what we were building on. It’s only day one but Ash finishing on P6 is a positive and something we can now build on moving into tomorrow.”
